Happy New Year

Happy New Year eCards

Cards for the turn of the year: a village at midnight, the clock tower lit and the whole place holding its breath for the bells, and a cottage door where the first visitor of the year has come with coal, bread and a little bottle on the step.

A note from the shopkeeper

About these cards

Each card says Happy New Year, with a line of its own underneath, such as “Here is to the year ahead” or “May luck be first through your door”, and your own message below.

Far off over the hills, fireworks climb, burst into showers of sparks and fade, and a fox in the snow turns its head. At the cottage, the visitor raps on the door now and then, a black cat on the windowsill swings its tail, candles flicker in the window and a robin on the wall looks round.

Send them for New Year’s Eve, or for the first morning of January, to the people you were thinking of when the clock struck twelve. Beside them hangs a card from our Scottish shelf for Hogmanay: a little harbor village waiting for the bells, fireworks far off in the sky and a seal on the quay, with Bliadhna Mhath Ùr, “Happy New Year”, in Gaelic.

Questions

How much does a card cost?

Each card is sold on its own, with nothing that renews behind your back. The prices page shows every price, in dollars, pounds and euros, with the pack of ten and the year pass. See the prices.

Can it arrive on Christmas morning?

Yes. You choose the day it should arrive and we keep it safe until then. It travels by email, or you can copy the link and share it yourself.

Can I stop the animation?

Every card has a button to stop it, and on a device set to reduce motion the card moves more gently, with the busier effects left out.
