God jul

Swedish and Nordic Christmas Cards

Nordic Christmas cards painted like Swedish winter nights: a red wooden cottage with white trim, candle arches in its windows and a straw Yule goat by the door; a hillside where girls in white carry candles up to a little wooden church; and a red cabin on the shore of a frozen lake, skaters far out on the ice.

A note from the shopkeeper

About these cards

Each card carries the Swedish greeting God jul, “Merry Christmas”, set beside the painting in a flowing hand, never painted in, so it stays sharp on any screen. Your own words go underneath.

Watch for a moment. At the cottage, a red squirrel in the birch flicks its tail, a titmouse and a bullfinch on the wheat sheaf turn their heads, the cat on the step breathes slowly and little candles flicker in every arch. On the hill, the candles of the procession flicker all the way up the path, and a fox by the gate turns its head now and then. By the lake, a snowy owl on the dock post turns its head, a fox sits in the snow, and the lanterns cast warm pools of light.

They are made for family in Sweden and for everyone who grew up with these long, candlelit nights: for Lucia morning on December 13, for julafton, or simply to say you are thinking of home.

Questions

How much does a card cost?

Each card is sold on its own, with nothing that renews behind your back. The prices page shows every price, in dollars, pounds and euros, with the pack of ten and the year pass. See the prices.

Can it arrive on Christmas morning?

Yes. You choose the day it should arrive and we keep it safe until then. It travels by email, or you can copy the link and share it yourself.

Can I stop the animation?

Every card has a button to stop it, and on a device set to reduce motion the card moves more gently, with the busier effects left out.
