Red Cottage

What moves in this card

• The red squirrel in the birch turns its head now and then and flicks its bushy tail.
• The titmouse and the bullfinch on the wheat sheaf glance left and right, cock their heads and fluff their feathers, breathing softly.
• The cat on the doorstep tilts its head now and then, its sides rising and falling as it breathes.
• Little candles flicker in the candle arches of four windows, firelight flickers in six windows, the lantern on the step glows and smoke curls from the chimney.
• The Christmas tree lights blink in four changing rhythms, and the light at the top of the tree shines.
• The big star in the sky pulses softly, the stars twinkle and a shooting star passes now and then.
• Faint northern lights hang behind the birches and the roof, their pale green curtains slowly folding and brightening now and then.
• Snow falls in three depths, with the odd gust that lifts loose snow along the ground; snow slips from the roofs and the birch branches and lands in little heaps, birds fly over now and then, and frost glints.
