How we write
Editorial Policy
Our guides help you write and send Christmas cards. They are written by Paper Lantern, with care, and kept to a few simple rules.
Every message is our own
The example messages in our guides are written for this site. We do not copy or reword messages from other websites, and we keep a list of the ones we have published so the same line does not turn up on two pages.
Greetings from home are checked by native speakers
A greeting in Welsh, Irish, German, Italian, Polish or any other language is only published after a native speaker has checked its spelling, accents and use. We do not write pronunciations ourselves: if a page offers one, it comes from the person who checked it. Our language guides stay unpublished until that check is done.
Dates come from the official source
Last posting dates are copied from the postal service’s own page (Royal Mail, USPS, An Post), with a link and the date we read it. If the official dates are not out yet, the page waits. We never estimate a date.
No invented facts, no fake reviews
We do not make up statistics, quotes or reviews, and we do not show star ratings. Quotations are only used with a checked source.
About the paintings
Every painting is checked and finished by hand before it is animated. How the paintings are made explains each step.
Corrections
Seen a mistake? Write to hello@paperlanterncards.com. We correct it and update the date at the top of the page.
