Buon Natale

Italian Christmas Cards

Italian Christmas cards painted like two snowy evenings: a stone village high in the mountains, with the last pink light on the peaks above, and a little piazza at dusk, where a carved wooden nativity scene stands under its shelter beside a frozen fountain.

A note from the shopkeeper

About these cards

Each card carries the greeting Buon Natale, “Merry Christmas”, set beside the painting in a flowing hand, never painted in, so it stays sharp on a phone or a large screen. Your own words go underneath.

They are quiet scenes that reward a second look. In both, the two bells in the tower swing and ring every half-minute or so, the nativity scene glows softly and drops fall from the icicles on the fountain. In the mountains, a donkey by the tree flicks its tail and snow streams from the summits when the wind gusts. In the piazza, seven pigeons turn and tilt their heads around the fountain, and a cat watches from a balcony.

Send them to family in Italy, or to the grandparents who brought Christmas with them when they left. More Italian scenes are being painted.

Questions

How much does a card cost?

Each card is sold on its own, with nothing that renews behind your back. The prices page shows every price, in dollars, pounds and euros, with the pack of ten and the year pass. See the prices.

Can it arrive on Christmas morning?

Yes. You choose the day it should arrive and we keep it safe until then. It travels by email, or you can copy the link and share it yourself.

Can I stop the animation?

Every card has a button to stop it, and on a device set to reduce motion the card moves more gently, with the busier effects left out.
