Merry Christmas

English Christmas Cards

English Christmas cards painted like a village at dusk: a lane of honey-coloured stone cottages under deep snow with the church tower beyond the rooftops, a village green with its tall lit tree and a frozen duck pond, a little stone post office with its window full of cards, and an old London bookshop on a cobbled street, its bow window glowing gold.

A note from the shopkeeper

About these cards

Each card says Merry Christmas, with a line of its own underneath, such as “Happy Christmas from our lane to yours” or “Happy Christmas, sent first class with love”. Your own message goes below, in your own words.

Look closely. The robin on the gatepost turns its head and the cat on the windowsill swishes its tail. On the green, two mallards look about by the pond, the tree lights blink and pale reflections slide across the ice. At the post office, a robin on the pillar box cocks its head and a Jack Russell on the step looks round and wags its tail. At the bookshop, a ginger cat sleeps among the books, breathing slowly, while a robin on the railing looks round and the gas lamp flickers. Lamps glow, firelight flickers in the windows, and now and then snow slides from a roof.

They are cards for family who moved away from a village like these, and for friends who still live down the lane or across town.

Questions

How much does a card cost?

Each card is sold on its own, with nothing that renews behind your back. The prices page shows every price, in dollars, pounds and euros, with the pack of ten and the year pass. See the prices.

Can it arrive on Christmas morning?

Yes. You choose the day it should arrive and we keep it safe until then. It travels by email, or you can copy the link and share it yourself.

Can I stop the animation?

Every card has a button to stop it, and on a device set to reduce motion the card moves more gently, with the busier effects left out.
